This is more of a comment than a diary, but I'm sure the title explains itself. Remember how the Clinton camp was on the verge of collapse before New Hampsire and all it took were a few tears and the playing of the gender card for Clinton to pull off the upset? Obama needs his crying moment today, tomorrow will be too late.
If I were a spin master for Obama this is what I would be saying today:
Hillary Clinton's victory last night was much needed to keep her campaign afloat, and the recent donation figures have proven that Pennsylvania was a good investment for her. Over the past few hours, her campaign has brought in millions of dollars, and no doubt her victory has caused some big smiles to the face of everyone she owes money, most of all Mark Penn.
Excuse the brevity of this post. Also excuse the lack of video links and all that fun stuff. The truth is that I have no idea how to do any of the cool stuff most good diarist can do. But, I noticed something last night during the debate that struck me as odd.
Recent debates in the Virginia Senate race has shown George Allen to be someone radical conservatives and neo-confederates cannot count own. Whether it was George Allen's open disdain for the rebel flag on Meet the Press, or his tirade yesterday supporting the idea of separation of church and state, George Allen has forgotten those values that helped him win elections for so long: theocratic dreams for America and investment in a time machine so that he could help the Confederacy gain a victory at Gettysburg. I applaud this recent change of opinion, but then again I am a proud liberal.
I just wonder how his recent change is going over in, as George Allen calls it, "Real Virginia". How are those people responding to recent comments like...
The 2006 Senate races are going to be tough. Races are tightening and the Republicans are planning a massive advertising campaign that will scare the bejesus out of the country. In light of such developments, I think it is time that we take a step back and re-evaluate Connecticut.
Personally, I don't care if Lamont or Lieberman win the CT Senate seat. I also think it is unnecessary for any of us to get involved at this point by directing our funding and attention on a Senate seat that will be won by either a Democrat or a sort-of Democrat. Lamont won the primary, let's declare victory and go elsewhere.
I'm getting a bit sick of seeing diaries about 2008 candidates. If you ask me, they almost all suck. The exception is of course Russ Feingold, talk about at man with principles. But beside that, I want to remind everyone about the man that made all of this Democratic resurgence possible, Howard Dean.
The reading issue came up in April when some parents and Called2Action, a local Christian activist group, complained to the school board about students being required to read three books -- "The Color Purple" by Alice Walker, "Beloved" by Toni Morrison and "The Chocolate War" by Robert Cormier.
The parents objected to what they called the "vulgar and sexually explicit language" in the books and said families should have been warned about them.
My name is Anthony DiMarzio and I am making a special appeal to people who live in Wake County, NC's 12-05 district.
I have been asked by the Wake County Democratic party to help organize the 12-05; and I was given a list of people who are said to be active and ready to help. I called them. Half of the numbers were disconnected and the other half wanted nothing to do with me. One guy went as so far as question how old I was (27) and tell me I was going to fail.
My wife has decided that she is going to take me to Memphis, TN for my birthday. I've never been there so I am calling on some Memphis suckahs here to help me with some info.
I am looking for some help. I have written a speech that I may have to use at some point, but that info is classified. Anyway, I post quasi regularly here and my diaries have never been met with much success. I'm assuming it is because I am a pretty horrible writer. (As an aside, you can read some of my horrible writing by clicking here
But back to the subject. I need some peer editing and criticism, and there is no better place to have that done than the snooty zone knows as Daily Kos.
When most people think of the "War on Terror" images of 9/11 and Afghanistan become foremost in memory. For that, Bush still gets pretty high marks on how he is handling the war on terror. We often get so wrapped up in the disaster of Iraq and the incompetence of domestic handling that we forget about Afghanistan.
What is the goal of Impeachment? Is it so that we can get revenge? Is it so that we can get President Cheney or Hastert? Or is it to prove that there is a value of justice amongst the American people?
I set up an account at Redstate.com for the reason of trying to have political discussion with people from the opposite side. I was delighted to see that there wasn't a five day waiting period to post comments or diaries. So I read through some diaries, posted some comments, and that was that. Today, I decided to visit again and I posted a few more comments. Then I got shut off. I have lost the right to post on Redstate.com. I know this has happened to others as well. This diary is my reply to Redstate.com.
Today I got a response from Congressman David Price of NC's 4th congressional District (Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh) about his stance on Impeachment. I am posting his letter in entirety below the fold.
Tweety has a Straw Poll for the Republican nomination in 2008. It is no surprise that McCain is winning it. We all know how much Chris Matthews loves John McCain and that he is going to want to use this poll as evidence that McCain is the greatest person on earth.
Why not screw the poll and have everyone vote for Tom Tancredo? There is probably not enough of us, maybe there are, to make a real dent into the results. But why not try?
Last week, I opened my mailbox to the delight of my six-month royalty check. I wrote a book a few years ago called Silver Waters . There is nothing quite like writing a book. There is so much excitement and hope that goes into it, and so much disappointment that follows.
I never thought that Silver Waters would be a best seller, but I always hoped it would. I always thought that it could be a best seller. But all authors feel that way about there books. When I opened the envelope and saw my check, I knew it was all over. $0.
In fairness, the book has been on the market for nearly two years, so I can't be upset about it finally running out of time. But I just wished that I could have had more than 40 people read the damn thing.
So, in honor of all the forgotten and broke authors out there, I offer you cheers. You may have made no money, but what the hell, at least it was fun while it lasted.
My ridiculous co-worker is usually my motivation to post on this website. I never bring any great piece of new information to the table, I generally write rants about the stupid things I hear all day. My ridiculous co-worker has been the theme for many of my posts including his opinions about how we found WMD in Iraq, and that blood is really blue inside the body. In other words, if you want to know if you are right about something, ask this man. If he disagrees with you, you are right.
Yesterday my favorite co-worker came into the receiving area and asked a girl a question. "Can you tell me what color blood is after it circulated the body and returns to the heart?"
First, I want to clarify things. I don't work for a place that is known for hiring intellectual geniuses. My co-workers are great people, don't get me wrong, butthe main qualification for the job is literacy. Needless to say, being a college graduate and having to work in such an environment can be troubling at times. I like to blame the economy for my meaningless employment.
