Harold Ickes - desparately trying to save Hillary

Tue May 06, 2008 at 01:08:12 PM PDT

Clinton delegate honcho tells The Page that his main argument when talking to supers is: "We don’t know enough about Senator Obama yet. We don’t need an October Surprise. And (the chance of) an October Surprise with Hillary is remote."

Also claims superdelegates (a/k/a: automatic delegates) are interested in the results of the last few contests "and thinking much more and much harder and in a much more focused way about the fall election. And that was not true pre-Ohio."

About the Democratic National Committee meeting on May 31 to resolve Florida and Michigan, says, "that’s something that we are sort of waiting on...The number needed for the nomination cannot be determined until those challenges are settled and resolved."

Another Pa Poll shows Obama closing the gap in Pa.  Last month Strategic Vision had Hillary up by 18 points.

Strategic Vision:

Obama Narrows the Gap in Pennsylvania
Political Wire got an advance look at a new Strategic Vision poll in Pennsylvania that shows Sen. Hillary Clinton leading Sen. Barack Obama by eight points, 49% to 41%. This is a dramatic change from last month's poll that found Clinton leading by 18 points.

In a general election match-up, Clinton leads McCain 47% to 41%; McCain leads Obama 47% to 42%.

The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3%.

Did Hillary misspeak again?

Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 01:37:35 PM PDT

What's up with Hillary lately?  Is she still missing sleep?  Here's another misstatement.  Not as bad as Bosnia but you think that she would have learned a lesson.  If this is how she is going to govern if elected - we are in deep trouble

Hillary claimed that she misspoke about Bosnia but then said that she was the First First Lady to fly into a combat zone.  Wrong again!

Yesterday, Hillary Clinton explained how she "misspoke" about a story she's told several times over the past four months, that of avoiding sniper fire on a 1996 trip to Bosnia. (I already mentioned how reporters were mocking the Sinbad story back in Iowa.)

But while discussing the issue at a Pennsylvania news conference, Clinton added another inaccuracy to the Bosnia story.

From today's Washington Post:

Questioned about this speech yesterday while campaigning in Pennsylvania, Clinton said that she remembered being told by the military and the Secret Service that "we were going into a war zone," adding: "I was the first first lady taken into a war zone since Eleanor Roosevelt.

Major Union AFSCME Dumps Lieberman, Endorses Lamont

Mon Sep 18, 2006 at 08:45:02 AM PDT

Sorry for the short diary but I just had to share this bit of good news.  It was rumored that it was going to happen but now it's official. Yeah! Lamont caught himself a huge endorsement.  This will help greatly with the GOTV operation.  It's a blow for Joe. TPM

CT-SEN: Major Union Dumps Lieberman, Endorses Lamont
By Will Menaker | bio

This is pretty big -- a major union which endorsed Joe Lieberman in the primary, Council 4 of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, has just announced that it's dropping its endorsement of Lieberman and throwing its support to Ned Lamont:

Sal Luciano, the executive director of Council 4, announced the endorsement Sunday, saying that the union wants to see a congressional delegation able to stand up to the Bush administration.

"Since the Aug. 8 primary, we paid close attention to the remarks of both men," Luciano said. "We saw Joe Lieberman moving closer and closer to Bush, while Ned Lamont held firm in his strong opposition to the direction Bush is taking us."

Council 4 represents 35,000 members and is the state's largest affiliate of the AFL-CIO.

"Non-Combatant" Lieberman Won't Back Democratic Candidates

Well it's official.  Joe is not going to endorse the Democrats running for office in CT.  I'm not very surprised.

HILLARY CLINTON V. HOWARD DEAN - New Republic article

Thu Jul 27, 2006 at 10:13:38 AM PDT

I shouldn't even diary an article from the New Republic but this one has me seeing red.

Hillary and Bill instead of uniting the party are trying to split it.  They are not on the same page as Dean, the DNC or the netroots.  They are playing the old trianglization game. This time with their own party.  They just don't understand the the GOP came to power by respecting and using all of their constituency & organizations. Hillary is hoping to marginalize Dean (DNC) and split the blogesphere to come to power.

Dean calls for end to GOP divisiveness & for Democratic party unity

Wed Jul 26, 2006 at 01:45:32 PM PDT

Bush has divided the country and fostered hate - all to keep the GOP in power. I often ask myself how could someone who professes to be a Christian knowingly set one American against another.  St Peter is not going to be happy with Bush & Rove when they show up at the Pearly Gates

Kos's Nightline video is up

Tue Jul 25, 2006 at 10:18:45 AM PDT

The Kingmaker

Nightline's interview with Kos on line now.

All in all I thought it was a very good interview with a few exceptions.  What the heck is Tapper trying to insinuate asking Kos about his finances and commenting about his new piano ...That was rude and uncalled for.  One other complaint - They just had to play "the scream" again.

They tried to play "gottcha" but failed miserably.  Kos is a great representative of this blog.  He is well spoken, affable and sincere.  I'm proud that he speaks for Kos.

Joe Liebermans War - Hubris Unleashed -Joe's right & everyone else is wrong

Mon Jul 24, 2006 at 06:37:53 AM PDT

Facinating article. Joe comes off as a self-serving schmuck.  Joe has a messianic quality.  He's convinced that what's good for Joe is good not only for CT but for the Democratic Party, the country and the whole darn world.

I've included a couple of excerpts for your reading pleasure. Joe Lieberman's War
